I deeply admire you for moving in alignment with your values, even if it costs. Especially when it costs. I’ve done so for many causes that were dear to me. I’m sending you strength and expansion in your next chapter. 🙏🏽

Thank you Lisa. This is deeply received. The question I have been asked time and time again as I grow, as I expand, as I journey is what is the cost of my misalignment? This cost is often so much more than monetary which, despite what we are made to believe, is not the most costly resource we stand do lose when we move against ourselves, individually or collectively.

I would love to share my experience of this post from you, as it was quite insightful for me.

I will admit that I roll my eyes when I see posts that are like "I'm Leaving Substack . . . ". I admit that I do this because I wonder if it is clickbait or not.

And yet, I saw your post, and was drawn to lean in. This is because I realized that I'd grown quite dismissive and judgey about this very topic. I challenged myself to see what you had to say.

I see what you have to say, and I am so grateful that you've shared.

As a Substack newbie, I appreciate your thoughtfulness as one who has been on the Substack train for quite awhile and have developed a significant following because of it. It helps me see that there are stages to Substack just s there are stages to EVERYTHING. And the minute I get comfortable, something comes to "shake me up" to keep my (as best as possible) from rigidifying. Your post served as this shake up for me, and I am deeply appreciative.

Have signed up for your newsletter. Took one look at your site and felt Kindred.

Thanks your you vulnerable, clear honesty!

"There are stages to EVERYTHING". If this ain't a truth...

Thank you for sharing your experience. As someone who is constantly working on her judgy-ness, both of myself and others (the two are so closely tied), I understand this. If I wasn't me, and actually, as I wrote the title of this post, I did roll my eyes but it was the quickest way to say what I spent a thousand + words explaining.

I am always being shaken up so much so I presently feel a little shook out but the reality is, this is apart of life. Like the earth shakes as it adjusts when there is friction at its core, I have for some time been feeling the friction and all sorts of pieces and parts are shaking loose. The thoughts and words are still pouring and you should presently have an email in your inbox (if you do not, please let me know). Thank you for this reflection.

I so admire your truth, the truth that you are willing to stand for yourself. And I stress for yourself and not against. That is some real power and wisdom that you have shown us. Take care and all the best with your book! ✨

Nadine, I love the language here, “willing to stand for yourself and not against”. This is worthy of deeper exploration (you might have inspired a piece for the book!). Day by day I am learning so much about this aspect of taking care and also care taking. Thank you so much for these words.

Will be watching the interview, thank you for bringing this to the surface. I’m right there with you — embodying my values as best as I can.

And sometimes the journey can become somewhat lonely because of that but your words are encouraging knowing that there are more of us out there.🥹

Thank you for this reflection. Your words held me when I was broken down with grief and the state of the world after 2023. I’m looking forward to your next step in life as an author and storyteller.

Georjelis, I'm so grateful to be receiving this. So grateful to know the words met you in the ways you needed, in the moments you needed them. More to come, and thank you.

I admire you and your work so much. I’m excited to receive your newsletters and am grateful to witness where your writing may take you. And thank you for always sharing my name with your following 🤎🙏🏾

Natasha. There are words that you wrote a few years ago that I always coming back to. Sharing them here to serve as an archive, "Relationships are mirrors showing you where you are most hurt and where you are most loving." I gush EVERY time. I am grateful to have met you along these digital streets. Your presence is so deep and sweet. Thank you for being witness and holding space for me and others in all the ways that you do.

I believe I saw your name pop up on the email list but if for some reason you didn't get today's letter, please let me know.

Thank you Renez. This reminds me of the quote attributed to Ram Dass, "We're all just walking each other home." And indeed, we are. My first post Substack letter has gone out. If you find you did not receive it, and want to, please let me know.

I do not recall where I signed up for your newsletter, but it was waaay back before I even knew what a substack was! I look forward to your newsletters and hope to see one soon! I have been thinking about gate keeping lately. Creating something real. Something exclusive for the collective. I’m thankful for the connections found here. Despite my “inflammatory” raw work in resistance, I have yet to come across such hateful content on here. Then again, I crack a whip to my algorithm and keep it in check. I think what most people feel is missing is community. They call engagement connection but likes, subscriptions, comments, shares, or purchases does not make a community. Only real connection does. Too many live in the surface. They don’t connect to build or collaborate—only to extract. My vibe is attracting my tribe and I love that for my online life. Please keep elevating. Keep writing. Keep speaking and writing TRUTH!!!!

ẹniafẹ isis's avatar

There's layers here, and it's resonate - gate keeping, creating something real, for the collective, something that allows for real connection and engagement, vs. the fabrication of the community we knew of and experienced pre-this world wide web...this world wide web which has enabled us to connect farther and wider than we ever have before. I too am in the process of thinking through, balancing, and giving thanks for all of this. It's rare for me too that I have come across hateful content but the thing is, our habits tell these platforms what we want to see so there's so much we don't...until we do.

This part here, "They don’t connect to build or collaborate—only to extract." is a point to be highlighted, a point I have seen/heard discussed before but always worth returning to because it can become easy to take this route, to extract and move on. I trust that you will keep attracting your tribe, wherever you go and wherever you are. I trust too that we will keep writing, elevating and reflecting truth. Thank you for your presence, your reflection, you vibe.

Sister. You are beautiful, brave and you inspire. Thank you for your light. Your words have been some of my favorite for nearly ten years — or whenever it was I first read them. I’m saddened to see you go, because truly, we need your particular voice. And people need to be able to easily discover you. You have elder wisdom in your blood. I’ve always and will always point people right to you.

I innerstand and OVERstand the responsibility you feel — yes, it is tied to our deepest freedom. I’m not too far behind you. I literally just want to untether and sink my feed in the ground. Lay there. Stay there.

Looking forward to seeing you in LA. Gonna plan to be in the place. Sending my love always,

b.

God that is disgusting??? Where we going?? Cause I don’t wanna support that either. I’m on medium but it feels less inclusive of poetry
