Los Angeles Writing Room: Ẹniafẹ Isis x Sovern LA
'Reflections In Our Eyes' Saturday, May 4, 2024, 4:00pm - 6:00pm
I planted a few very important seeds last year and expected them to grow and blossom instantly. When this didn’t happen I felt I had failed. I ignored the fact that,
1.) Seeds need time to root, and
2.) Some fruit “comes on its own time” (shout out to my friend Jason E.C. Wright for offering me this perspective and language).
On Saturday, May 4th, one of these planted seeds will be blossoming. This marks my first worksop (Writing Room) since summer 2022.
See below for more information, and to confirm your attendance (this is in-person only). Please also feel free to pass along and remember, you do not need to be a “writer”, by trade or by title, to write.
This is space for us to seek and see ourselves.
I am a woman breaking open, and openly breaking. A home, becoming her favorite place.
This Writing Room was created with the intention of helping you become your own favorite place.
Reflection In Our Eyes
Influenced by the exhibit, 'Seeing Self', Reflection In Our Eyes is a writing workshop that invites those seeking clarity or questioning identity, duality, and multiplicity. A space to hold challenging emotions, thoughts, and triggers, this writing experience invites us to collectively, and safely, explore our own questions and perceptions, those formed for us, by others, and those we have formed for ourselves. Through a guided writing practice we will create a dual self-portrait in narrative form. The duality being how we are seen, and how we see ourselves.
This Writing Room is for you, if…
…you are questioning your identity and feel confused, disconnected, wandering.
…you are ready to explore the multitudes around your identity, but find it uncomfortable at times.
…you want to stretch outside your current realm of acceptance and understanding.
…you want to develop a stronger sense of self, sense of community, sense of grounding.
During the writing process you will…
…be invited, but not forced, to explore what Self feels like and means to you.
…be encouraged to create space for any parts that feel misaligned and uncomfortable.
…be a part of a safe, and collective, practice of creating and sharing tools to help navigate feelings, thoughts, and identities that are challenging or triggering.
Join me for this intimate writing experience that will help you gain new perspective – and courage – to continue to explore yourself, with yourself, asking questions, and sitting with/in contemplation.
Register is donation based. This is an in-person only event.

Wish I lived in LA to join 🤎 pray that the space fills your cup just as much as I know it will fill the cups of those in attendance
Will these sessions be available on recording for those who can’t attend live? Writing groups on the weekends are hard for me to attend but I’m enchanted with the write up and the opportunity to create multiple self narratives - internalized and externalized…
